Biography : Nicky Terblanche, PhD is a researcher, senior lecturer and research supervisor at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), South Africa. He has master's degrees in leadership coaching as well as electronic engineering and a PhD in business management. His research interests include artificial intelligence, leadership coaching, transformative learning, social network analysis and complexity theory. He has published in several international academic journals and regularly presents at international conferences. He is also the creator of Coach Vici (www.coachvici.com), an AI Coach based on goal attainment theory. Vici has been used in several empirical studies to investigate AI Coaching adoption factors and efficacy. Nicky believes the future of coaching lies in evidence-based practice based on rigorous research, not hype.

This new reality evokes responses ranging from borderline fear and distrust to excitement and anticipation, mostly driven by lack of knowledge about AI and paucity of empirical efficacy evidence. As an X-software engineer, practicing leadership coach and academic researcher I set out on a journey to investigate AI Coaching through research.
